A man who was caught trafficking a little over 48 pounds of ganja was remanded into custody Friday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.
He will be sentenced on May 21.
Guwayne Beckford pleaded guilty to possession of ganja, dealing in and trafficking ganja, when he appeared before Magistrate Desiree Alleyne.
He also pleaded guilty to taking steps to export ganja, but no evidence was offered on that charge by the prosecution.
The court heard that Beckford was stopped by the police on the Portmore Toll Road after his driving attracted their attention.
The police asked him if he had anything in the car and he admitted that he had ganja, the court also heard.
The car was searched and a suitcase and a bag were found on the back seat with compressed ganja weighing 48 pounds and 15 ounces.(read more here)
