AS police continue their investigations into allegations of corruption within the Valencia policing division, a search at the station yesterday reportedly yielded illegal contraband.
The search came hours after an officer, formerly assigned tot the post, was suspended from active duty with immediate effect on Tuesday pending the outcome of a probe being conducted by Asst Commissioner of Police Raymond Craig and his team.
The probe was triggered after the Sunday Express, two weeks ago, highlighted allegations of corruption within the Eastern Division.
In his report detective constable Verson Jeanville stated that there is a "clear and present danger" to members of the public because of the alleged corrupt activities and injustices meted out to them by some officers assigned to the Eastern Division.
The April 6 report, which was sent to Commissioner of Police Dwayne Gibbs, was also copied to the Police Complaints Authority chairman Gillian Lucky, National Security Minister Brigadier John Sandy, Attorney general Anand Ramlogan, Chief Justice Ivor Archie and DPP Gaspard.(read more here)
