The life of a young Catholic deacon who had “an infectious laugh” was celebrated at his funeral service at the Fatima Church in Newtown on Thursday.
Priests, deacons, family, friends and well wishes from Dominica, the region and the United States gathered to say “farewell” to Deacon Kevin Bellot C.Ss. R. who died suddenly just over a week ago in St. Lucia at age 29.
Reverend Kevin Moley C.Ss.R. Redemptorist Provincial and Archbishop Robert Rives of St. Lucia were the main celebrants at the funeral mass.
The gospel was read by Deacon Branker John, and the homily done by Father Peter Hill Jr, Kevin’s cousin.
Archbishop Rives said the church had lost “a son, a deacon, a true servant of God who was filled with zeal, life, joy and vitality.”
Reverend Moley expressed shock and sadness at the sudden passing of Deacon Bellot.
“Life is short we are one people, we are a people of faith but we are passing through this world and should be ready. He was full of life and we all need to fully support his family,” the leading cleric said.(read more here)
